iMedX is hiring a Full-time Outpatient Quality Assurance Specialist. The position is full-time, hourly paid, and you work from home! Coding fluency in outpatient -based patient encounters of all types is desired: experience in Epic and Cerner a plus. Critical areas of knowledge include Observation cases, Ambulatory Surgery, Emergency Department and Specialty Clinic service lines - wound care, Infusions and Injections, Long Term Antibiotic Therapy and recurrent therapies - Cardiac, Physical, Occupational and Speech. Preference will be given to applicants with broad-based OP coding knowledge. Qualified applicants must be based in the United States .
PURPOSE
This role supports the integrity and efficient functioning of the coding teams by performing quality assurance reviews of outpatient coding completed by internal staff and may provide focused education to same coding staff. The candidate may be required to participate in coding production work as needed and is actively involved in the orientation and training of new team members and performs related mentoring activities as needed.

The Outpatient Quality Assurance Specialist will focus primarily on ensuring accurate and complete work based on departmental objectives while ensuring client satisfaction to include the following responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs outpatient coding quality audits as directed by the Coding Manager.
- Reviews coding for all accounts selected for outpatient quality review (SDS, OBS, ED, Ancillary, etc.)
- Alerts Coding Manager to trends and/or consistent issues identified in audit process.
- Recognizes, interprets, and evaluates inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in coding, and takes measures to assure corrections are made as appropriate.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication and attention to detail skills.
- Serve as an outpatient coding subject matter expert (SME) to other team members and responds to questions in timely fashion.
- Develop tools which may increase coding quality within the team framework. Such efforts can extend across multiple teams as appropriate.
- Conduct account reviews as requested by the client.
- Maintain knowledge of current coding guidelines for audits as assigned.
- Stay current on coding guidelines and trends and continually enhances coding and technology skills. Participate in webinars and educational conferences to endure coding practice is up to date.
- Maintains confidentiality and safeguards the privacy of protected health information (PHI).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a formally recognized coding program.
- Acceptable credentials include: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or other AHIMA or AAPC CPC coding credential. Certain additional AAPC credentials may be desirable.
- Preference given to those with a CPMA credential.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years’ experience with all aspects of outpatient coding, encompassing a working knowledge of the ICD and CPT coding guidelines and practices, technology and processes. Exhibits a sense of urgency towards work, possesses intermediate level computer skills, attention to detail, excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills.
- Coding fluency in outpatient surgery, Observation, Emergency Department, Interventional Radiology and specialty clinic services
- PC proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software
- Good communication skills with clients and manager exhibiting adaptability, excellent customer service, and professional written and verbal communications skills.
- Maintains enthusiasm and a sense of urgency towards work.
- Accepts responsibility and accountability willingly.
- In all activities, uses analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills in meeting the objectives of the position with an excellent eye for detail.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and demonstrates willingness to put in extra hours as per client / team needs.
Physical Work Environment: Personal computer meeting the requirements of the position in a home-based environment that involves long periods of sitting with repetitive motions of hand and arm and may include frequent bending and twisting. This is a remote, work from home, position.
